With Brie Larson now cast as Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, speculation is rampant over who’ll end up directing the already-confirmed solo movie for the character.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that a shortlist has now been put together, with the current names in the frame believed to be Whale Rider’s Niki Caro, The Meddler’s Lorene Scafaria, and Lesli Linka Glatter, who is primarily best known for helming TV episodes of The Walking Dead and Homeland. The outlet adds that, whilst Marvel Studios has a shortlist assembled, it may be a little while before a final decision is made.

As for Captain Marvel itself, no real details are known on the movie at this early stage. Larson’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, will debut in May 4th, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War before her own solo film hits screens on March 8th, 2019. Whilst no director is in place for Captain Marvel just yet, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman and Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve are currently working on the film’s screenplay.

Expect more on this as it develops.
