Popular director Shawn Levy is in talks with Lucasfilm to develop and direct a Star Wars feature film. Deadline writes that Levy will focus on this project after he completes work on the much-anticipated Deadpool 3, which will mark the mercenary’s official entry into the MCU and Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine.

Shawn Levy is in high demand at the moment; the filmmaker is currently in post-production on the limited series All the Light We Cannot See for Netflix, is directing at least two episodes of Stranger Things’ fifth and final season, is in discussions for a Free Guy sequel, and of course now has a Marvel release to look forward to.

This latest Star Wars film is the latest in a number of movies by A-listers being developed: others include one from writer Damon Lindelof and director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron –which should have opened in December this year but has since been delayed –, a Kevin Feige-produced film on the docket written by Loki’s Michael Waldron, a Taika Waititi-directed project from screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and two untitled Star Wars features dated for December 2025 and December 2027. And that’s not to mention the many series currently in the works.
