We’ve known for a while now that Shane Black was working on a new Predator movie, but now comes some indication on when the film will actually start shooting.

Whilst promoting The Nice Guys, Black told Agence France Presse that his Predator film would start shooting “in the latter part of the fall – September, October.”

The writer/director, who also appeared as Hawkins in 1987’s Predator, also revealed that the movie would have a larger budget than the previous entries in the franchise. Black teased, “To the best of my knowledge, the train is rolling. It took some convincing because they’ve been putting out these movies all along with a $50-$60 million budget, and they all had a guaranteed return.” As well as saying that this new film would be “bigger” than the three Predator movies we’ve had to date, Black also went on to describe the film as an “event film”.

Previously, Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted that he was due to have lunch with Black to discuss returning as Dutch for the film. On that point, the director said that Das Arnold’s participation is “something we’re looking into”.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
