The SF Ball, the UK’s longest running not-for-profit sci-fi convention has announced its full line up of guests who will be attending the 2017 show, which takes place at Southampton’s Grand Harbour Hotel on February 3rd – 5th. All proceeds from the show go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Joining the already-announced Gates McFadden will be: Chris Barrie (Red Dwarf), Patti Yasutake (Nurse Ogawa in Star Trek: The Next Generation) Terry Molloy (Doctor Who), Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Ian Beattie, Ian McElhinney (all from Game of Thrones), Larry Nemecek (Star Trek Continues) and Dave Freeman, who is a concept artist on the new Star Trek films.

Each day of the classic convention includes Q&A’s, professional photography and autograph sessions with the stars, activities, challenges and art/fiction competitions, an emporium of merchandise and collectables available for sale in a large dealer’s room, a special table-top gaming room, an exhibition hall including roaming full size Daleks, life-sized, fan-built recreations of sets, replica models and displays from talented model makers not to mention several opportunities to party after each day including discos, karaoke and full interactive games on stage with Trekologist B Jones.

Anne Lindup, director of SF Ball Limited said, “Science fiction teaches us to accept others and challenges us to execute a better future for all. We have taken these philosophies and moulded the SF Ball to help many charities and, in particular, the Teenage Cancer Trust for 23 years. We promise a fun-filled 3 days for sci-fi fans, knowing that all the proceeds will go to a vital cause in this country.

Since 2009, the SF Ball has raised nearly £30,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and prides itself on its policy of welcoming anyone to enjoy the festivities, regardless of background or disability, with the emphasis on fun and socialising rather than financial gain.

The 2017 event is sponsored by Horror Channel and STARBURST Magazine.
