Treat this as purely rumour for now, but there’s some huge rumblings out there regarding the second of the Star Wars Anthology movies.

This second Anthology film was to be directed by Josh Trank before he recently departed the project, but now comes some speculation (via Schmoes Know) on a new director and just what the action may focus on.

Director-wise, it’s believed that Iron Man’s Jon Favreau and Kingsman: The Secret Service’s Matthew Vaughn are both keen to helm the film. As for the plot, here’s where the pants of many a Star Wars fan will start to tighten.

The rumour doing the rounds at the moment is that the second Anthology movie will focus on a rivalry between Boba Fett and a younger Han Solo, with the tale to be set before the event of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. There had been speculation before that the film would focus on Boba or Solo, but these latest rumours suggest that the focus of the movie will actually be on both characters.

As mentioned, treat this as purely a rumour for now, but still… it does sound mighty, mighty cool. Then again, that throws up the need for a younger actor for Han Solo, which could once again bring the names of Ryan Gosling and Aaron Paul into the mix.

Expect more on all of this as and when it develops.
