The Winter Soldier himself, Sebastian Stan, has landed a headline role in the upcoming adaptation of We Have Always Lived in the Castle, the 1962 short story from Shirley Jackson.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Stan, best known to genre fans for playing Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be playing the eerie Charles Blackwood in the movie.

Plot-wise, We Have Always Lived in the Castle centres on a New England family who lost four members to a strange poisoning years prior. Following those deaths, the remaining family members have isolated themselves from the public to such an extent that they’ve even used rituals and talismans to keep hostile townsfolk at bay. When creepy cousin Charles turns up with an eye on the family fortune, everything almost immediately turns sour and take a major turn for the worst.

To be helmed by Concussion’s Stacie Passon, We Have Always Lived in the Castle is due to start shooting in Dublin later this month ahead of a TBC release date.
