Given Michael Myers un-killable nature, it’s hardly surprising that the HALLOWEEN franchise is still spewing films forth some 30 years since John Carpenter’s seminal slasher. News comes from The Hollywood Reporter that the next instalment has secured its writers in Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who penned SAW IV – VII and the dreadful PIRANHA 3DD.

THR go on to state that, “Sources say it’s not a remake, not a reboot, and not a reimagining. One source said the project is a ‘recalibration’”. While there’s currently no director attached to the project, Malek Akkad and Matt Stein will both be producing. After Rob Zombie’s over-the-top take on John Carpenter’s original, it’s difficult to put much stock in future films. But this latest entry might be a vital dose of fresh blood.

Melton and Dunstan also penned the script to the long-gestating GOD OF WAR film for Universal.

As ever, expect more as we hear it.
