Whilst we’ve not heard anything on the project for a little while, it appears that Saw: Legacy is indeed still happening. Not only that, it looks like the eighth film in the famed horror franchise is to start shooting later this year.

The update on this latest Saw offering comes courtesy of IATSE873 (via Bloody Disgusting), a site which deals with a union of stage, theatre and various movie crew sorts. The site is reporting that filming is due to start in Toronto this coming September, and that Dan Heffner and Oren Koules will be producing.

All that was previously revealed about Saw: Legacy was that Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger were penning the script, and that James Wan And Leigh Whannell would be serving as executive producers. Stolberg and Goldfinger have previously written genre efforts such as Sorority Row, Piranha 3D and Piranha 3DD. As for Wan and Whannell, they famously created the Saw franchise back in 2004.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
