Finally, it’s official! After much speculation, it’s finally been confirmed (via Bloody-Disgusting) that the next outing in the Saw franchise is to be titled simply Jigsaw.

Previously, the movie was referred to as Saw: Legacy, although it was always believed that title was merely just a placeholder. Rumours came out last month to suggest that Jigsaw could well end up being the real title for the picture, and now that’s been made official. Interestingly, Jigsaw was the initial title for the original Saw movie from James Wan and Leigh Whannell.

Jigsaw has long finished shooting, and is currently in post-production for release this Halloween. Tobin Bell is confirmed to be returning, and the rest of the cast includes the likes of Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, and James Gomez.

The current synopsis for Jigsaw reads:

Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

At present, Jigsaw is booked in for an October 27th release.
