Sam Claflin, the actor perhaps best known for portraying fan-favourite Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games franchise, is set to star in Bagman, according to a THR exclusive.

The supernatural thriller comes from Lionsgate, with Colm McCarthy (The Girl With All The Gifts, Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders season 2 – though his and Claflin’s paths did not cross on the show) directing from a script by John Hulme.

Bagman centres on a father (Claflin) who desperately struggles against his deepest fears when the childhood monster he once vanquished returns to haunt him. This time however, the father has to muster the strength to not just save himself, but his family too.

Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey – who count Twilight, Maze Runner and The Fault in Our Stars among their many credits – are producing the thriller, with Meredith Wieck and Jorge Alfaro overseeing the project on behalf of Lionsgate.

No further details have been released beyond Claflin’s involvement and the film’s brief logline, but Bagman is being introduced to international buyers in the coming days at the Cannes Film Festival. As such, it’s likely the project will be going into pre-production soon, at which point we can expect further information to be released on the story.
