Actress, model, writer and singer Bella Thorne (The Babysitter, Midnight Sun) has been cast to star in the upcoming horror-thriller Saint Clare, reports Deadline, a film co-written by American Psycho’s Guinevere Turner.

Thorne will star as Clare Bleecker, a quiet Catholic student and devoted vegan with a divine vocation for… killing. Within her is the Other Clare, whose murderous instincts take over at the most inopportune of times. The story is based on Don Roff’s novel Clare at 16, with its novel sequel releasing next year.

Producers are currently in talks with Jessica Jones actress Rebecca DeMornay to join the cast, ahead of production beginning in Kentucky.

Mitzi Peirone (Braid, also known as Nobody Leaves) is aboard to direct, having co-written the script with Turner. Producers are David Chackler, Arielle Elwes, Thor Bradwell, and Joel Michaely; executive producers are Cassian Elwes, Seth Needle, Mark Damon, Tamara Birkemoe, Veronica Radaelli, Tom Culliver, Nadia Redler, Dave Sereny, and Jere Hausfater.

Producer Arielle Elwes stated: “We’re thrilled to be working with the incredible Bella Thorne; she is so perfect for the role. Mitzi is the real thing, and I can’t wait to see what she cooks up for what will be a great franchise.”

With casting presently underway, expect more news on Saint Clare soon.
