It seemed like a no-brainer, but now it’s official: Ryan Reynolds has signed on for Deadpool 2.
Before Deadpool was even released, Reynolds talked about how he’d be happy to play the Merc with a Mouth for the rest of his life, and after the hugely well-received debut of the film, 20th Century Fox got to work on a script for a sequel. So yeah, the actor returning to play Wade Wilson was always going to happen, but now the negotiations have been finalised for Reynolds’ return.
It’s reported that Reynolds took home $2 million up-front for Deadpool, and Heroic Hollywood claims that the charismatic Canadian has signed a deal that will see this figure significantly upped for the sequel.
Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are already at work on the screenplay for Deadpool 2, although it’s still unknown whether director Tim Miller will be back or not.
From a budget of just $58 million, Deadpool took home a hugely-impressive $754 million at the global box office earlier this year, marking it as the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time.SHARE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW OR ON TWITTER @STARBURST_MAG
