After delivering the rather brilliant CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER earlier this year, Anthony and Joe Russo are already well underway on the next Cap-centric film, now known as CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. So impressed with their work are Marvel Studios and Disney, it appears that there could be even bigger things on the horizon for the brothers.

Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios has already had discussions about the Russos eventually taking over the AVENGERS franchise from the God-like figure of Joss Whedon. Whilst there most definitely won’t be any moves made to push Whedon out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is believed that the writer/director, not to mention overseer of the MCU, is considering stepping back from the Marvel world eventually in order to focus his time on other projects.

This latest report from Deadline suggests that the Russos could be in charge of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes by the time the two-part AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR rolls around, with those two films currently set for a UK release on April 27th, 2018 and May 3rd, 2019. Before that, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will hit British screens on April 29th, 2016.

As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.
