With Captain America: Civil War now upon us, Robert Downey Jr. has teased that we could well get an Iron Man 4.

When asked about the possibility by ABC News, RDJ briefly said, “I feel like I could do one more.”

So, is that confirmation of Iron Man 4? Nope. Is it an indicator that we’ll likely get Iron Man 4, though? Most likely. Either way, Downey Jr. isn’t stupid and knows any such comments will be pounced upon by eager MCU fans.

Of course, Downey Jr. has flirted with the whole will he/won’t he thing several times already when it comes to further Iron Man outings. Following Iron Man 3, the actor was supposedly done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ultimately, a new contract would be agreed in order for him to return for Avengers: Age of Ultron. He then went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed that Iron Man 4 was definitely happening… only for that to have been a misunderstanding, with RDJ instead meaning that Shellhead was going to be returning as part of Civil War. And now, once more it looks as if we could end up with a fourth Iron Man movie at some point in the future.

As well as Captain America: Civil War, Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark has recently been a confirmed part of July 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and then there’s the prospect of the Russo brothers’ two-part Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon as well.

For now, Iron Man 4 is far from a confirmed thing, but you’d have to think that if Robert Downey Jr. says he’s open to another Stark solo movie then the execs at Marvel Studios and Disney will be doing all that they can to get such a film into production.

As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.
