There’s been constant suggestion of an IRON MAN 4 ever since IRON MAN 3 did ridiculous numbers for Marvel Studios and Disney. Thing is, Robert Downey Jr.’s contract Marvel deal was up after that film. The actor agreed a two-picture deal to return as Tony Stark for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and THE AVENGERS 3, but that was it – no more IRON MAN movies. Well it seems like a fourth Stark-centric film could now be a go.

Speaking on THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW about the possibility of the film happening, Downey Jr. teased, “I know there’s going to be a bunch more Marvel movies. And they have big ideas of how to do it best and we’re in the middle of negotiation…”

Ever the inquisitive host, Ellen quickly prompted, “So, yes?”, to which RDJ coyly responded, “Okay, yes!”

Just to add further fuel to the fire, Downey Jr. took part in a Reddit AMA and hinted, “Sooner rather than later the Marvel Roster will be made public and all questions will be answered.”

So, could Robert Downey Jr. finally be about to agree a deal for IRON MAN 4? This is definitely the most positive news we’ve heard on that front so far. Still, until anything official breaks, treat this as just a maybe at this point.
