Ready for another big screen Sherlock Holmes outing? Well, Robert Downey Jr. has now confirmed that the current plan is to hopefully start shooting a third outing for his Holmes before 2016 comes to a close.

Speaking to ShortList, RDJ revealed, “We’re talking about it right now. We can do some preliminary stuff. If we could shoot it on Skype, we could have the whole in a week. When we’re making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. We’ll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I’m tired all the time, but I’m so excited about it.”

You can’t really blame Downey Jr. for being a bit knackered these days, especially considering his Marvel Cinematic Universe commitments, including suiting up again for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War.

The first two Sherlock Holmes entries came out in 2009 and 2011, and it was previously reported that Lionel Wigram and Drew Pearce would be working on the screenplay for a third film.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
