Over the last few weeks we’ve heard several Robert Downey Jr. rumours. First up, IRON MAN 4 was definitely a no-go. Then a chat show appearance with Ellen DeGeneres seemed to indeed confirm IRON MAN 4. That was thrown out of the window shortly after, as an interview with David Letterman saw RDJ clear things up and reveal that whilst IRON MAN 4 is a no-go, he was in talks for “other stuff “ with Marvel. Well it now appears that this stuff of the other variety has been revealed.

Variety reports that Downey Jr. is close to agreeing a deal to feature in CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 in order to launch a cinematic version of the hugely popular CIVIL WAR comic book arc. One possible launching pad for this could be the events of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, where we’ll see some rogue Stark tech become the murderous Ultron. Could it be that the guilt of this leads Stark to possibly suggest some form of superhero registration act? And those recent rumours that the MCU could soon feature Spider-Man are now given new purpose due to the extent of how involved the Wallcrawler is in the comic book CIVIL WAR arc.

As ever, expect to hear more on this as and when it develops.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 3, to be directed be Anthony and Joe Russo, is currently set for a May 6th, 2016 release.
