Remember the relaunching of The Ring franchise that’s on the way? No? Well it is. Or it was. Or it still is… it’s just now being delayed.

F. Javier Gutierrez’s Rings was initially set to hit cinemas in November, as in next month, but has now been pushed back to an unknown 2016 date. Variety reports that the delay is down to Paramount’s busy schedule over the next few months, which sees Oscar tips The Big Short and Anomalisa on the way.

As for Rings, Alex Roe stars as a man who starts to become distant with his girlfriend after watching that video tape. Johnny Galecki also stars, with the events of the movie to take place 13 years after the first movie.

Like we said, no new release date has been given to Rings at this stage, but expect more details as and when we get it. Logic would suggest that the film may even be pushed back until October 2016 in order to make the most of the Halloween market that usually does so well for horror films. That’s the logical approach though, so we’ll see what happens.
