The popular YA book series from Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, is getting a new entry! The author confirmed that a new book was headed to shelves on September 26th, 2023, titled Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods.

Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood will reunite in a brand new adventure, The Read Riordan website shared, further explaining: “Not a reboot. Not a reimagining. A full-blown, canonical, stand-alone sequel starring the original trio from The Lightning Thief.”

The fantasy novel series had five books published between 2005 and 2009: The Lightning ThiefThe Sea of MonstersThe Titan’s CurseThe Battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian.

The Chalice of the Gods will have the book’s protagonist trying to get into college. The book, which takes place between the events of The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo (from the other Rick Riordan book series set in the same universe), will see Percy, Annabeth and Grover be tasked with retrieving Ganymede’s lost goblet in order for Percy to get his recommendation letter from Mount Olympus for his application to New Rome University.

The announcement of The Chalice of the Gods comes as Disney+ continues work on their television series adaptation. The series is expected to premiere in 2024.
