STARBURST is sad to report British actor Richard Johnson has passed away, aged 87.

As well as being a renowned star of the stage, and countless films and TV series, he is fondly remembered by genre fans for his appearances in Robert Wise’s 1963 classic The Haunting, Sergio Martino’s Island of the Fishmen (1979), and Lucio Fulci’s Zombie Flesh Eaters (1979).

He was also famous as being the offered the part of James Bond by director Terence Young in the first feature film Dr No in 1962 but declined the part as he was under contract to MGM.

STARBURST sends its sympathies to his family and friends.
