Confirming recent speculation and rumours, it’s now been revealed that Richard E. Grant’s mystery Logan role is indeed that of Dr. Zander Rice.

Logan star Hugh Jackman confirmed the news, posting the accompanying picture along with the caption of simply “Rice”. In the comic book realm, Zander Rice is one of the creators of X-23, the young female Wolverine clone, and he also has additional ties to Wolverine as his father was one of the men involved with the original Weapon X program. As for X-23, Rice’s comic book role on that front saw him regularly torture the poor youngster, and he helped to develop the “trigger scent” that would send her into a bloody, murderous rage much like Wolvie’s famed Berzerker Rage.

As well as Hugh Jackman and Richard E. Grant, Logan also stars Dafne Keen as X-23, Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, leader of the villainous Reavers, and then unknown roles for Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez.

To be directed by The Wolverine’s James Mangold, Logan is currently set for a March 3rd, 2017 release.
