I Know What You Did Last Summer Episode 5

After the fallout from ‘Allison’s’ funeral, the police are questioning everyone who was there to try and narrow down the suspects.

Lennon’s OnlyFans account becomes the shock reveal for most of the characters and the fact that Dale was a subscriber, only for Allison to try and log in to it to find that it has been closed down.

Dylan is moping around in the cave, carving Allison’s name into the wall, pretending that he is trying to get over her loss, when Clara appears out of the shadows, proclaiming she remembers him from last time and that there is no redemption. This leads Dylan to suspect that she is the killer and he takes Allison, Margot, and Riley to her house while she is being questioned by the police.

They find a bunch of creepy dilapidated buildings on the property and search them individually (because splitting up is always the best option, right?)

Margot is even more self-centred than ever, believing Lennon (Allison) to be acting suspiciously even though we just saw her have to say goodbye at her sister’s funeral. Her penchant for sneaking up on her friends in this episode is pretty tiresome, to say the least.

Of course, Clara returns home to discover the entry point the friends used at the same time that Allison and Riley discover a picture of Bruce marrying Clara.

Margot and Dylan discover a cold room full of spiders, which appear to be the same species that were left in Johnny’s head and they make a break for it as Clara drives up, with Dylan doubling back to find Allison and Riley. Clara has the compound set up with floodlights, which she switches on before she grabs a shotgun and goes hunting.

Riley leaves, with Allison taking photos of the wedding picture and Clara hears Riley’s movements and starts after her before Dylan’s text to Allison, warning her that Clara is in the building, alerts the homeowner. Riley meets up with Dylan, with him telling her to get clear while he goes back for Allison.

He shuts off the floodlights just as Clara seems about to discover Allison hiding under the desk, causing her to leave and release the hounds. Dylan then acts as a distraction, drawing Clara and her shotgun away to allow Allison to escape, although we zoom in on a machete that is grabbed by someone off-screen.

Back home, Allison chooses not to confront Bruce about what she has found.

We are given more snippets of flashbacks, a couple of which hint at a secret being kept between Lennon and Bruce, and that she wants to let Allison know. It’s from this that we discover how and why Lennon was walking along the road at the time of the accident.

The final shot of the episode is in some dark undergrowth, probably still on Clara’s property, where we hear someone gasping for breath as the camera zeroes in on the machete lying on the ground.

So, after a spate of deaths in the last few episodes, the coroner gets a bit of a break here, as the focus is squarely put upon Clara as our prime suspect as far as the friends are concerned. With three episodes left, it’s unlikely that she is the killer, and it is more than likely that the real killer has hacked her to within an inch of her life.

Again, with so many unlikeable characters as our main protagonists, it is very difficult to root for them, apart from knowing that most of them are probably going to end up on steel slabs.

The Clara/Bruce revelation is an interesting twist and maybe this is what Bruce and Lennon were arguing about, but we’ll have to wait another week before we find out any more.

I Know What You Did Last Summer streams on Prime Video with new episodes every Friday.
