DIABLO III: ETERNAL COLLECTION

A seemingly endless dungeon crawler with an insane amount of content, Diablo 3 has gained a huge cult following since it first appeared back in 2012. Famous for its replayability, this action RPG has seen several releases over the years, but now – for the very first time – Diablo 3 goes portable on Nintendo Switch.

The Eternal Collection contains the main game, every single piece of previously released DLC, and a total of seven different character classes to choose from. Adventure Mode – a downloadable addition that was locked in previous editions until players completed the Campaign – is now available right from the start, allowing access to new realms and riches that many might not have been able to reach before. And because this is the Switch edition, there are a few exclusive Nintendo-themed extras to be found tucked away in your inventory…

While the relentless hacking and slashing of the Campaign mode is excellent on its own, the extra bells and whistles included here are where the real fun is to be found. In “Seasons”, players start with a brand new character and track their progress against online leaderboards. Unique loot is available here, along with extra rewards for top players. Adventure Mode contains a wealth of adjustments to almost every gameplay mechanic, encouraging players to grind away for even more powerful weapons and armour while battling a variety of increasingly difficult enemies. Challenges, new areas, and bounties (basically randomised objectives) all add to the overall package, leaving players with countless hours of addictive demon-slaying action.

Diablo 3 on Switch supports up to four players simultaneously, with each person able to drop in or out at the touch of a button, either on the same console or – get this – by using multiple Switches connected to the same wi-fi network. Joining (and leaving) games is seamless,

For any RPG fans who have never played Diablo 3 before, this is an outstanding definitive edition that really ought to be in your collection. As for the veterans out there, now you can take one of your favourites on the move and play it wherever you like! The Eternal Collection does everything right, and works like a dream. We’d be more than happy to keep on playing until the end of time…
