BE MORE YODA / BE MORE VADER

Be More Vader

Whether it’s Dr. Phil or Tony Robbins, many have made a fair penny proclaiming themselves as self-help gurus who can give you the sort of advice that can turn your life around. Some of that is, let’s be honest, utter bollocks, while other parts of the self-help movement may have sprinklings of truth to them. But to put a spin on that, how would you feel about getting words of wisdom from two of the most powerful beings in the galaxy? Well, now you have your chance.

In this double whammy from Christian Blauvelt, we have the does-exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin Be More Yoda and Be More Vader. If you’ve ever wanted life advice from an all-powerful Sith or a masterful Jedi, this pairing is clearly a must-have. Both books work brilliantly for what Blauvelt is trying to get across to his readership – in the sense that these efforts are light and breezy reads that are massively enjoyable for fans of all things a galaxy far, far away, while also actually giving some wise words on a slew of situations that we’ve all encountered in our day-to-day existence.

The subject matters covered in both Be More Yoda and Be More Vader are very real and relatable topics, just handed a sprinkling of Star Wars to make things more palatable and less preachy. All of the points mentioned are certainly relevant, but the content is always kept to bitesize extracts that are accompanied by pitch-perfect images taken from the realms of the Star Wars franchise. And yes, of course there is a difference in both books, with Be More Vader subtitled as “Assertive Thinking from the Dark Side” and Be More Yoda subtitled as “Mindful Thinking from a Galaxy Far, Far Away”. Those subtitles themselves should give you an ever further idea of what to expect, with the Vader title being more power-driven and strong-willed, in comparison to the more relaxed and thoughtful approach taken by the iconic Jedi Master. This pairing often have the same endgame proposed, although with different approaches to suit their mindset.

Each clocking in at around the 60-page mark, Be More Yoda and Be More Vader are a couple of great little reads, poking fun at the self-help sorts out there, tongue firmly in cheek, and laced in Star Wars references that are relevant and relatable to our everyday world.
