Variety
is reporting that RESIDENT EVIL and UNDERWORLD are two cinematic properties that are to be adapted for the small screen in the future. Constanin Film will be developing the shows, with Chairman Martin Moszkowicz recently confirming the news.

With RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER’s production pushed back until next year due to star Milla Jovovich being pregnant, it’s believed that a RE spin-off show will follow after that release. Moszkowicz revealed that Constanin is pushing forward aggressively on “starting production next year on at least or three international shows.” As well as RESIDENT EVIL and UNDERWORLD, it’s said that the other series lined up is THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS.

Additionally, on the UNDERWORLD front it’s been teased that Kate Beckinsale could be set to return to the big screen franchise in the future. The star of the series won’t be appearing in the upcoming UNDERWORLD: NEXT GENERATION, which will focus on Theo James’ David character. Director Len Wiseman told IGN, “There’s a few things being developed right now. There’s some characters we really liked – there’s kind of more of a spin-off of some of the characters like we did with RISE OF THE LYCANS and another film is being developed in the works with Kate possibly as well. And then there’s a television series as well. It’s kind of expanding that universe in many ways.”

It’s already been suggested, given the current number of big names getting involved in television, that both Jovovich and Beckinsale could likely end up featuring, in at least some way, in these shows.

As ever, expect to hear more on these projects as they develop.
