Paramount Pictures has revealed that a further three Transformers movies will be released annually over a three-year period, with one of them being a Bumblebee spin-off movie.

The current plan is for the next Transformers film to hit screens in June 2017. That film will be a straight-up Transformers 5, but in June 2018 will come a spin-off focussing on fan favourite Bumblebee. Getting back to the main franchise, 2019 will bring Transformers 6.

Speaking on a recent investor conference call, Hasbro’s Tom Warner revealed, “This summer we worked closely with a talented team of A-list screenwriters to map out the future of the Transformers cinematic universe, and as Brian announced earlier, things kick off in a major way in 2017 with the release of Transformers 5 in June. And we’re working on a spin-off movie centred around Bumblebee for 2018 and the next chapter in 2019.”

So, for those thinking that Age of Extinction was going to, indeed, mark the Transformers franchise as extinct, you’ve now got another three movies to look forward to. All we know for now is that Mark Wahlberg will be returning for at least the next entry in the series.

As ever, expect more on all of this as and when it develops.
