FOX’s GOTHAM has recently been confirmed for a second season, and now comes word that the Red Hood will be making an appearance in the show.

Speaking to CBR, executive producer Bruno Heller revealed, “There’s going to be an episode that involves the Red Hood, which picks up that strand, the costume strand, and sort of gives a kind of philosophical base, if that’s not too pretentious a word. Why costumes? What’s the power of costumers? What’s the power of a mask? All of that groundwork will be laid sort of culturally for that side of the DC Universe before we start rolling into the more spectacular spandex type of deal.”

As soon as most people hear the name Red Hood, the first thing that comes to mind is The Joker. In so many depictions of the Clown Prince of Crime’s origin story, the Red Hood is an alias he goes by in his early days. Whether GOTHAM’s Red Hood has any ties to The Joker remains to be seen, although the minds behind the show have previously said that we will see Batman’s most iconic villain at some point in the show’s run.
