For all of you horror hounds out there, you’ll be well aware that a new Friday the 13th movie – Friday the 13th, Part 13 – was due to start shooting next month ahead of an October release… only for the film to be completely pulled by Paramount and Platinum Dunes. Well now the screenplay for the original planned reboot has surfaced online – and it’s pretty damn good!

Before this new film got scrapped, Aaron Guzikowsi had written the screenplay, but before that there was a script in place from Hannibal’s Nick Antosca. Well Antosca has taken to Twitter to post a link to the script (as shared out by a Reddit user) for what he himself called a “dream horror project that almost got made.”

Having read the screenplay, we’ve got to say we’re certainly impressed at what seems like it would’ve been a great addition to the longstanding horror franchise, harking back to what made Jason Voorhees so popular in the first place.

For now, it looks as if there won’t be any return visits to Camp Crystal Lake in the near future, but if Paramount and Platinum Dunes ever were to get Jason up and running again, they could do far worse than take another look at Nick Antosca’s screenplay once again.
