NBC has given a series order to the Quantum Leap reboot pilot, which stars Raymond Lee (Here and Now, Top Gun: Maverick) as Dr. Ben Seong.

Deadline also reports that the pilot episode will undergo some reshoots relating to the direction. The cast also includes Ernie Hudson in the co-lead role, Caitlin Bassett in her TV debut, Mason Alexander Park (Cowboy Bebop, The Sandman), and Nanrisa Lee (Bosch). Star of the original 1990s Quantum Leap Scott Bakula, who was at a time rumoured to appear in the reboot, does not look to be involved in the new series.

The upcoming series is set in the present day, 30 years after the events of the original show in which Dr. Sam Beckett stepped in the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of uncovering the mysteries of the machine and the man who built it. In other words, the NBC reboot is more sequel than restart.

Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt will write and executive produce; Martin Gero, Don Bellisario and Deborah Pratt are also on board to executive produce.

With the news of a series pickup also comes a first-look at Lee in the lead role. See it below:
