Today is the 50th birthday of The Prisoner, Patrick McGoohan’ classic, inscrutable descent down the resignation rabbit hole. Viewers in 1967 tuning for what appeared to be just another ITC action-adventure show were in for one hell of a surprise…

A momentous occasion like this requires a good party, and The Prisoner is getting one. Fans have converged on the beautiful and mysterious Village itself, Portmeirion in North Wales, for FALL IN: THE PRISONER @50, a one-day birthday celebration. Special guests include Jason King himself, Peter Wyngarde (No.2 in the episode ‘Checkmate’), actress Jane Merrow (‘The Schizoid Man’) and many other cast and crew members. As well as a special screening of ‘Arrival’ on lovely old 35mm at 7:30pm tonight (the exact moment of the anniversary) the event features the world premiere of In My Mind, a new feature-documentary from Chris Rodley that centres on his astonishing experience attempting to interview Patrick McGoohan for a Channel 4 documentary in 1983. We have an in-depth interview with Chris about the project coming soon and you can read our review of the film.  Also, don’t forget to check out our special birthday celebration of The Prisoner in the current edition of in STARBURST – issue 441, out now.
