A host of fantastic films have been lined up for summer on Horror Channel with classics from the genre masters and some recent favourites.
The movies in July start with a bang with David Cronenburg’s beloved head-exploding masterpiece Scanners (1981) on Friday, July 2nd. Sunday, July 4th sees Arnold Schwarzenegger uncovers a plot to clone humans in The 6th Day (2000).
Bringing things more up to date on Sunday, July 11th is the fame-hungry shocker Starry Eyes (2014) starring Alex Essoe as the wannabe actor who falls prey to a mysterious movie studio. A latter-day offering from Hammer Films screens on Wednesday, July 14th as Hilary Swank finds it terrifying being The Resident (2011) – the film also reunites Christopher Lee with the studio that made him famous.
Eli Roth takes us into The Green Inferno (2013) on Thursday, July 15th as a group of eco-warriors become lunch in the forests of Peru. Things get a little lighter on Friday, July 23rd as cult sci-fi comedy Iron Sky (2012) reveals that Nazis have settled on the moon and readying their next assault on the world.
For the final weekend of the month, there are films from a pair of horror legends. Cronenberg shocks us once more with The Brood (1979), which stars Oliver Reed, Samantha Eggar, Art Hindle, and some very creepy kids and screens on Friday, July 23rd. On Sunday, July 25th we take a trip to the Red Planet in John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars (2001), starring Natasha Henstridge and Ice Cube.
