AMC’s PREACHER series has found two new cast members.

It’s being reported by various outlets that Ian Colletti will be playing Arseface and Ruth Negga will be playing Tulip O’Hare. Both characters are straight from the pages of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic book series, and both are huge fan favourites. Colletti is best known for JIMMY, whilst many may notice Negga from AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

As for the characters themselves, Arseface is the son of Texas Sheriff Hugo Root. Attempting to kill himself with a shotgun blast to the face, the poor lad ends up massively deformed. In the comic books we never actually find out his real name, although in the series he’ll be called Eugene. On the character of Tulip, she’s an ex girlfriend of the lead character and one who joins him on his mission to track down God.

The basic premise of PREACHER focusses on Reverend Jesse Custer, who is a Texas preacher losing his faith. He ends up merged with an entity known as Genesis, which is both an angel and a demon, and sets off to find God and make him explain why he has abandoned his duties. The book itself ran from 1995 to 2000.

AMC’s PREACHER is being developed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen through their Point Grey brand. Sam Catlin has penned the pilot, with Goldberg and Rogen set to helm the first episode. Shooting is to begin later this year ahead of a 2016 debut.
