Pre-production has officially begun on New Line Cinema’s upcoming Conjuring spin-off, The Nun.

Corin Hardy, who wowed many with The Hallow, is on board to direct, and he sent out a tweet to confirm that pre-production is now underway. Filming itself is due to start at some point in May ahead of a July 13th, 2018 release.

You can find Hardy’s tweet below:

The Nun will focus on the demonic nun who was seen tormenting Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring 2.

Interestingly, certain speculation suggests that this film may actually tie in with August 11th’s Annabelle 2. In that sequel, to be directed by Lights Out’s David F. Sandberg, at the centre of the action will be a nun who is worried that her orphans are being targeted by an evil presence. Could it possibly be that the nun featured in Anabelle 2 and The Nun are one and the same? We’ll have to wait and see.
