Fancy another rehash of another famed property? Yes, you can now add Zorro to the piles of reboots, remakes, reimaginings, reshapings, etc.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that another redo of the pulp hero is on the way. Zorro himself, of course, has been reinvented and rebooted many times over the decades. This new take on the character, though, is a little different.

The description of this new effort reveals that it will be a “post-apocalyptic take on the myth of Zorro… set in the near future but keeps the idea of a masked and caped stranger taking on tyrants.”

So rather than the classic 19th century, horse-riding Zorro, we’re going to be getting a post-apocalyptic Zorro? OK, well that’s certainly a way of making the film a little different to the other Zorro outings we’ve seen.

To be developed by Lantica Media and Sobini Films, principal photography is set to start in March of next year.

On this news, Sobini’s Mark Amin said, “This has been a fifteen year journey filled with ups and downs but it has remained my passion project over the years.”

Lantica Media’s Antonio Gennari added, “Very generation has its own Zorro hero and we’re proud to be able to introduce a new Zorro to this generation.”

This currently-untitled Zorro adventure has already started its search for a director.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
