In some sad news for fans of PlayStation’s Powers show, the series has been cancelled.

A live-action adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s critically-acclaimed comic book, Powers ran for just two seasons before PlayStation has made the decision to can the show.

Despite being cancelled, Bendis himself hinted on Twitter that this may not be the last we’ve seen on the series, saying, “A Powers episode generated over 4.5 million hits on YouTube alone & people BTS who believe in us. We’ll see…”

The basic premise of the show centred on two homicide detectives (played by Sharlto Copley and Deena Pilgrim) who are tasked with delving into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities; people who are not necessarily using these powers to do particularly heroic and well-meaning deeds.

In the comic book world, Powers is still being published under Marvel’s Icon imprint. Whether the live-action series finds a new home somewhere down the line, we’ll have to wait and see. For now, though, Powers is no more.
