With The Vision finally set to debut in the MCU when AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON rolls around, now comes confirmation that the character will indeed also be back for future films. Actor Paul Bettany confirmed the news in a recent interview.

Speaking to News Australia, Bettany said, “That’s the really great thing about the Marvel gig for me. I have never known if I have had a job six months out ever in my life. And now I know that they have plans and I can be even more judicious about the stuff that I do outside of that work. I can wait for the right thing and feel really attached to it.”

What these plans are, that’s open to speculation. Given how AGE OF ULTRON will see The Vision created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, not to mention how the Bettany-voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. of previous Marvel movies is likely to be tied to Vision, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the character appear in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. That film is set to see Tony Stark and Steve Rogers butting heads and is likely to feature many other heroes, with Black Widow and Black Panther already confirmed and expected roles for Hawkeye and The Falcon.

Bettany went on to reveal that he initially became part of the MCU for the easy payday that lending his vocals to J.A.R.V.I.S. gave him. Since expanding his participation to The Vision, he’s been immersing himself in all corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I did a lot of research,” he said, “and my research was watching all of the films. I realised they are so interlinked and I wanted to understand the universe I was in. So I did and it was a really amazing, fun experience. Everybody made me feel really at home and I have no bad stories – they are really funny people and really creative. I have never seen sets that big in my whole career. I have never seen set pieces like it – we were in a set that felt like a town.”

If Bettany does indeed end up returning as The Vision in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, that movie, to be directed by the Russo brothers, is due to start shooting in April. Before CAP 3 arrives, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits UK screens on April 24th before a global release on May 1st.
