For years now, there’s been rumours of a Planet Hulk movie. Whilst that’s currently not happening any time soon, it has now been confirmed that the Green Goliath’s appearance in November’s Thor: Ragnarok will indeed include Sakaar.

What’s Sakaar, you ask? Why, that’s the planet where the action of the comic book Planet Hulk tale takes place. And now director Taika Waititi has revealed that the planet will be featured in his upcoming Thor movie.

As picked up by MCU Exchange, the director confirmed, “Sakaar was just an intense, far-off, futuristic place which was the biggest shift for the film and these characters.”

In the comic book Planet Hulk arc, the Illuminati decide that the Hulk is too dangerous to have on Earth. Sending him off into space, the Engine of Mass Destruction ends up on a gladiatorial planet known as Sakaar. Located next to a wormhole, the planet is the home to refugees from all over the galaxy and features daily, bloody battles between its inhabitants.

Where Thor: Ragnarok is concerned, Chris Hemsworth’s Thunder God will be joined by Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Idris Elba’s Heimdall, Sir Anthony Hopkins’ Odin, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Cate Blanchett’s Hela, Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, Karl Urban’s Skurge, and an unknown role for Sam Neill.

Thor: Ragnarok is currently set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.
