Whilst TNT have scrapped their plans for a live-action show based on DC’s Teen Titans, it’s full-steam ahead for another DC-based series.

NBC has officially ordered a pilot for Powerless, the comedy show set in the DC realm. The premise for the series centres on the, err, powerless everyday folk who live in the DC universe. It’s been described as “a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America” and that it’s about “the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.” So yeah, the focus will be on an insurance company having to deal with the issues and problems brought up by having various heroes and villains causing chaos (here’s looking at you, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel).

The pilot for Powerless will be penned and executive produced by A to Z creator Ben Queen. It’s expected that no major DC characters will actually appear in the show, although expect mention of certain heroes and villains, and possibly even some cameos from lesser-known DC characters.

Powerless becomes the latest DC-themed show to hit the small screen, with Arrow, The Flash, Gotham and Supergirl all now available to watch, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow debuting later this month, and Krypton currently in development.
