As James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel continues to amass its core cast, it looks as if a former Doctor may be in the frame to join the action.

Via Deadline, Peter Capaldi has reportedly signed on for the follow-up. At this stage, there are no details on just which role Capaldi has landed.

In addition to a three-season stint heading up Doctor Who, Capaldi is also famed for The Thick Of It and for nabbing an Oscar in 1995 for short film Frank Kafka’s It’s a Wonderful Life.

Capaldi joins fellow new additions Idris Elba, Storm Reid, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Nathan Fillion, Flula Borg and Steve Agee in joining the antics of Task Force X. Despite no Margot Robbie or Will Smith, the majority of Suicide Squad’s key figures are expected to return.

To be written and directed by Gunn, The Suicide Squad – yes, the sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad is titled The Suicide Squad – it set for an August 6th, 2021 release.
