Initially reported as a rumour back in August, now comes apparent confirmation that Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter will be appearing in Peyton Reed’s ANT-MAN. The news comes after Project Casting posted an advert looking for an Atwell stand-in to work in the Atlanta area, which is where ANT-MAN is shooting.

The ad reads:

Casting directors are looking for an actor to work as a stand-in for the actor Hayley Atwell. Hayley Atwell is 31, 5’7” and 112 pounds. She is best known for her work in stage productions such as A View from the Bridge, and in films such as Cassandra’s Dream, The Duchess, The Pillars of the Earth, and Captain America: The First Avengers. In addition, casting directors are looking for a body double that meets certain requirements.

A previous rumour suggested that Peggy would be appearing in the film as part of a flashback involving Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, Dominic Cooper’s Howard Stark, Toby Jones’ Armin Zola, and a younger version of the Alexander Pierce character played by Robert Redford in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Whether that flashback actually happens, we’ll have to wait and see. It is believed, however, that the inclusion of that flashback moment in the script was part of the reason why Edgar Wright departed the project back in May.

ANT-MAN is currently scheduled for a July 17th, 2015 release. Additionally, the Peggy-focussed AGENT CARTER TV series is due to hit the small screen early next year.
