Paul Greengrass has made a name for himself for shooting high-octane, visceral action-orientated thrillers. Whilst last year’s nail-biter CAPTAIN PHILLIPS met with critical acclaim, it’s a surprise that the director is set to adapt George Orwell’s seminal novel 1984.

While Greengrass’ next project will be his return to the BOURNE series, having directed the last two instalments, Deadline has reported that he’ll then tackle 1984. Sony is funding the feature, with FINDING NEVERLAND scribe James Graham penning the script. Scott Rudin and Gina Rosenblum are producing.

The director certainly has his work cut out for him given the high regard the John Hurt-starring 1984 release is held in, but having more than proved his salt, this could well be one worth watching out for.

More details as we hear them.
