Earlier this week, news broke that both star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins were both signed on to return for a Wonder Woman sequel – but now that appears to not quite be the case.

Whilst Gadot is indeed contracted to return as Diana for a sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Jenkins only had a one-picture deal with Warner Brothers. That one picture, obviously, being the Wonder Woman effort that is dominating box offices across the globe right now.

The early report suggests that The WB may have actually been caught a little off-guard with the success of Wonder Woman, and so the deal for Jenkins was just for that one film. Now, with the movie being lauded by fans and critics alike, the pressure is on to get Jenkins signed up to helm the follow-up – although that now means that the director has a whole load of extra ammunition on her side when it comes to negotiations, particularly given how vastly superior Wonder Woman is in comparison to the previous DCEU movies to date.

Of course, a Wonder Woman sequel is just one of a whole host of upcoming DC-driven efforts that are on the way over the next several years. In addition to that follow-up, there’s Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern Corps., Cyborg, The Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing, Justice League Dark, Gotham City Sirens, Suicide Squad 2, and reportedly a Man of Steel sequel, too. Before any of those, though, comes Zack Snyder’s Justice League this November.

As ever, expect more on the Wonder Woman sequel and the rest of these upcoming DCEU movies as we get it.
