Given the rip-roaring success of the movies that Marvel Studios and Disney have put out over the last six years, ANT-MAN has proved to be just a tad troublesome. Firstly we had director Edgar Wright, who had been on board the project for nearly a decade, departing due to creative differences. Then there was the whole debacle of replacing Wright – a job that would eventually go to Peyton Reed. Now comes word that the film has lost three cast members.

Deadline is reporting that Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerard and Kevin Weisman have all departed the project. In Wilson’s case, there’s nothing particularly sinister, with a scheduling conflict given for that departure. As for Gerard and Weisman, their roles were said to have been written out of the movie during the last round of script rewrites. All three had unconfirmed roles in the film, although Wilson was rumoured to be playing Darren Cross or William Cross, a pair of villains said to be appearing in some form in ANT-MAN.

With these departures, that leaves Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and David Dastmalchian as the only confirmed cast for ANT-MAN, which is currently set for a 17th July, 2015 release.
