After Patrick Stewart revealed earlier this year that he was in talks to appear in the upcoming third Wolverine movie, there’s now some confirmation that the legendary actor’s Professor X is to play a pivotal role in what has been labelled Hugh Jackman’s last time as the iconic Logan.

Confirming that he’ll be a part of this next Wolverine effort, Stewart told Collider, “There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”

He was also pressed on whether the film may take its inspiration from the famed Old Man Logan comic book arc, to which he teased, “The idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.”

As alluded to, star Jackman has gone on record as saying that this third Wolvie solo movie will be his last time donning the ever-popular claws. At present, Jackman has appeared as Wolverine in seven movies to date. In addition to this, there’s the possibility of some sort of appearance in Deadpool, Gambit and X-Men: Apocalypse, which would then take his total up to eleven with this next Wolverine movie.

To be directed by The Wolverine’s James Mangold, this final outing for Logan is currently set for March 3rd, 2017.
