Netflix Renews SABRINA for Two Further Seasons

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

With a second season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina already on the way, Netflix has now moved to confirm a further two seasons for one 2018’s most impressive new shows.

To be specific, the on-demand streaming service has ordered an additional sixteen Sabrina episodes to be spread out over a third and fourth season for the show.

Presumably, these additional two seasons will be made up of eight episodes each, which is slightly shorter than the ten-episode first and second seasons. But still, more Sabrina is always a good thing, particularly if the quality is as high as it was for the aforementioned debut year.

As ever, expect more on the upcoming new seasons of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as we get it.

Plot Details Revealed for THE CONJURING 3

The Conjuring 2

Right now, James Wan is currently at work promoting Aquaman – and during said promo tour, the genre favourite has given us an idea of what to expect from The Conjuring 3.

Speaking to Bloody Disgusting about the third main Conjuring picture, Wan explained, “It’s not necessarily based on an artefact but it’s based one of the Warrens’ case files. All the Conjuring films are based on the case files, so they’re more based on the true story aspect of the real-life Warrens. It’s important that the mothership stays true to the inspiration of the real people. The spin-offs are where we get to have more fun and do weird and wonderful crazy things.”

More specifically, Wan would go on to add, “It’s this guy who was on trial for committing a murder. I think it’s the first time in America’s history where the defendant used possession as a reason, as an excuse.”

With The Curse of La Llorona’s Michael Chaves this time out, The Conjuring 3 is booked in for an April release.

Go to War in Space in EVE Online: Operation Permafrost

permafrost

Christmas is a time for peace on Earth, but you can wage war in space instead in the hugely popular multiplayer online game EVE Online, particularly as they’ve added a limited-time holiday event, Operation Permafrost!

Experience new and exciting challenges, visuals and content in Operation Permafrost from now through January 2nd and obtain exclusive rewards

In a new update for EVE Online, the in-depth and uniquely player-driven spaceship MMO game from CCP Games, players can join Operation Permafrost to engage in new and exciting challenges, visuals and rewards this holiday season.

This event comes hot on the heels of the most recent update to EVE Online, which introduced two new Triglavian ships, auroras on planets and the first in a series of improvements to the War Declaration system.

In Operation Permafrost, players answer the call of a mysterious and unknown third party, travelling to the northern polar region of a mysterious ice dwarf to disrupt ORE Frostline’s operations and take on Mordu’s Legion. Participating in the event allows players to obtain exclusive Permafrost SKINS, brand new blueprints for Mordu’s Legion and Frostline modules, as well as limited-time Boosters and Cerebral Accelerators.

With all-new visuals, this event will allow players to fly closer to the surface of a planet than ever before, opening up new gameplay and pilot experiences amongst icy asteroids and nebula.

Players can access the event via The Agency in the Neocom menu in-game. Each objective requires players to complete a series of challenges, racking up Agency points in the process to unlock new rewards. Players keep track of challenge progress from the info panel, and can claim challenge rewards by quick-accessing The Agency home.

Players will also experience the first in a series of keenly anticipated updates to the War Declaration system, with further tweaks to come in 2019. Thanks to these changes, there has never been a better time to join a corporation in high-sec space in New Eden. Corporations in high-security space are now more protected, as they are only vulnerable to war declarations if they have certain assets in space – either an Upwell Structure, a Starbase or a Customs Office.

Players now also have the opportunity to fly two brand new Triglavian logistics cruisers – the Rodiva class tech I cruiser and its tech II counterpart, the Zarmazd class logistics cruiser. Both new ships benefit from an all new Triglavian-themed remote repair module, designed around the same weapons characteristics as the Triglavian Entropic Disintegrator. The same update brought new stunning visual improvements to planets in the form of auroras. These are rare sights, but can be found all across the cluster.

We invite all EVE Online players to join the festivities and bag some limited-time loot while flying closer than ever before to a planet’s orbit,” said Paul Elsy, EVE Online’s Senior Community Manager at CCP. “Alongside our 13 Days of EVE gifting event, it’s really worth joining the fun during this holiday season.

With Agency points, players obtain the exclusive Holiday SKIN, giving players a reminder of their arctic exploits. These limited-time rewards are only be available throughout the Operation Permafrost event that runs until January 2nd, 2019.

For more information about Operation Permafrost, please visit https://www.eveonline.com/live-event. If you haven’t played before, sign up now and start your adventure – it’s free and brilliant fun.

Drew Goddard’s SINISTER SIX Movie May Still Happen

The Sinister Six

Wait, what?!?! Yes, as the headline suggests, Sony Pictures could yet still give audiences a Sinister Six movie.

If you remember back, ahead of the release of Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony boldly announced release dates for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man 4, Venom and The Sinister Six. Of course, ASM2 was a complete and utter disappointment on every level, causing Sony to shelve plans for the rest of those movies at that time. Now with Venom having finally been brought to big-screen life, it looks as if we may get that Sinister Six picture after all.

During that time, genre fave Drew Goddard – best known for directing The Cabin in the Woods, writing Cloverfield, and helping to develop Marvel’s Daredevil – was signed up to write and direct The Sinister Six, and Sony’s Amy Pascal has now discussed how she’d be keen to finally get Goddard’s Sinister Six up and running.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Pascal enthused, “I’m just waiting for Drew to be ready to direct it. I would do anything with Drew Goddard. I’m just waiting for him to tell me he wants to.”

For his part in all of this, Goddard has always reiterated how he’d been open to finally tackling some of Spider-Man’s most infamous rogues. In fact, it was only this past October where he again expressed his interest in teaming some of ol’ Web-head’s greatest villains up.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that The Sinister Six is again alive and well, but it certainly opens up the possibility that we may see this nefarious group on the big screen at some point. After all, Sony is currently fleshing out its cinematic Spider-Verse that began with the Tom Hardy-headlined Venom. The Jared Leto-starring Morbius the Living Vampire is to start shooting next year ahead of a 2020 release, and then there are solo outings in various stages of development for Black Cat, Silver Sable, Silk, Nightwatch, Jackpot, and Kraven the Hunter.

The original comic book Sinister Six team was made up of Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Kraven, Mysterio, Electro, and Sandman; the group pooling their resources after being individually embarrassed by Spider-Man over the years. Since its inception in 1964, there’s been various villainous types join the group, not to mention expansions to being The Sinister Seven and even The Sinister Twelve.

It’s worth noting that during the Sony email hack of 2014, it was revealed that Tom Hardy was actually the top choice to play The Sinister Six’s Sandman, Sean Penn and Woody Harrelson were up for Doctor Octopus, Colin Firth was seen as the perfect Vulture, Emily Blunt and Emilia Clarke were up for Scorpia, and Channing Tatum was viewed as the ideal Venom. Other names considered for roles were George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Daniel Craig, and Danny McBride. The point being, Sony had some major names planned for The Sinister Six. Well, before the picture was completely canned.

As ever, expect more on The Sinister Six if and when anything further develops.

SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Set for 2019

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Who doesn’t love the wonderful imagination and creative genius of Guillermo del Toro, right? Well now comes an update on the del Toro-produced Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Having been in development for three years or so, it’s now been confirmed that CBS Films and Lionsgate will be releasing this adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark on August 9th, 2019.

To be directed by Trollhunter‘s André Øvredal, the early synopsis on Scary Stories reads:

The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.

On board to star in Scary Stories are Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Gil Bellows, Dean Norris, Lorraine Troussaint, Natalie Ganzhorn and Austin Zajur.

The big-screen adaptation has been written by del Toro, Daniel Hageman and Kevin Hageman.

Alvin Schwartz’s initial Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark book was published back in 1981 and went on to become a huge favourite of many, with it soon becoming the first of a three-book series that was followed up with More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones. The first book was illustrated by Stephen Gammell and featured over two dozen terrifying tales of horror.

As ever, expect more on the del Toro-produced Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark as it continues to develop.

Adria Arjona in Talks for MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE

Adria Arjona

With Sony’s Morbius movie now seemingly set for a 2020 release, the Jared Leto-starrer is reportedly close to finding its female leave.

As per Deadline, Adria Arjona is in talks to play Martine Bancroft opposite Leto’s Michael Morbius. Arjona is likely best known to genre fans for appearances in the likes of Emerald City, Pacific Rim: Uprising and True Detective.

In the world of Marvel Comics, Bancroft was the fiancée of Morbius before his gnarly transformation into a blood-sucker vampire. Even after that change, Martine stays by Michael’s side and helps him in his quest to find a cure for his bloodlust.

For those not familiar with the vampiric Michael Morbius, he’s a character who debuted in 1971’s Amazing Spider-Man #101. A scientist with a rare blood disease, Morbius ends up with vampiric abilities – and also the bloodlust that comes with being such a being. Over the decades, he’s been both a friend and foe of Spider-Man, and he’s also often tied to Blade.

Life’s Daniel Espinosa is on directing duties for Morbius the Living Vampire, with the picture delivered to be the mystery Marvel movie that Sony Pictures has booked in for a July 2020 release.
