With Tom Hardy previously linked to the role, Variety is reporting that Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has now found its titular villain. Taking on the part of En Sabbah Nur will be Oscar Isaac, who will also be appearing in a certain little film by the name of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS. Away from a galaxy far, far away, Isaac is best known for the likes of INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, ROBIN HOOD and DRIVE.

Often referred to as the world’s first mutant, En Sabah Nur was born in Egypt approximately 3,000 BC. Using advanced technology, he went on to become a conqueror of lands known as Apocalypse. Created by Walter and Louise Simonsen, the character made his comic book debut in 1986’s X-FACTOR #6. A younger version of him was also present during X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST’s post-credits scene.

Isaac joins as a cast that so far includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and likely an appearance from Channing Tatum’s Remy LeBeau and presumably Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The production is also looking to cast younger versions of Jean Grey and Scott Summers, aka Cyclops.

To be directed by Bryan Singer, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is currently set for a May 27th, 2016 release.
