Last month saw a script rumoured to be that of Josh Trank’s THE FANTASTIC FOUR leak online. Whilst the powers that be at 20th Century Fox played down the leak and any connection to the ‘real’ plot of the FF redo, the full details of the rumoured plot had many a long-time Fantastic Four fan scratching their head. Now comes the reveal of the official synopsis for Trank’s film.
The official details read:
“THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centres on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
Now whilst Fox distanced themselves from leaked script, the official synopsis certainly matches up with some of what was contained in the leaked screenplay, particularly the alternate universe angle that gives the team their powers. In case you missed it, you can find the full leaked plot here, although treat that as purely speculation for now. Still, it does seem a little strange that not even a logo, poster or even official still has been released for the FF reboot at this stage.
This latest telling of the Fantastic Four’s story stars Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Reg E. Cathey as Dr. Franklin Storm, Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder, aka Mole Man, and Toby Kebbell as Victor Doomashev, an online programmer who uses the ‘net handle of “Doom.”
To be directed by Josh Trank, THE FANTASTIC FOUR is currently set for an August 7th, 2015 release.
