Whilst we’ve had a good idea of what to expect from next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Brothers has finally released the official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel follow-up.

The official word on the film reads:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day saviour, whilst the world wrestlers with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger that it’s ever known before.

Now the obvious question surrounds what exactly this “new threat” is. The current speculation is that this ‘big bad’ will indeed be the uber-powerful Doomsday, who of course ‘killed’ the Last Son of Krypton during the legendary Death of Superman comic book arc.

As well as Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, Dawn of Justice will also feature Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and unknown roles for Holly Hunter, Scott McNairy and Callan Mulvey. It’s also believed that Jena Malone is to appear in the film, quite possibly as Carrie Kelley. Then there’s those rumours that Jared Leto’s Joker may pop up in a cameo role.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits cinemas on March 25th, 2016.
