With Doctor Strange currently shooting, Marvel Studios has officially announced the cast list and a brief synopsis for the film.

The biggest news from this is that Mads Mikkelsen, much-rumoured to be in talks for a role in the film, is now finally on board in an unknown role. The Hannibal actor joins a cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Michael Stuhlbarg as Doctor Nicodemus West, and unknown roles for Rachel McAdams, Scott Adkins, and Amy Landecker.

As for official synopsis, that briefly reads:

Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternative dimensions. Doctor Strange is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal – over the course of four years and nine films – is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favourites.

To be directed by Sinister’s Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange is set for an October 28th release.
