Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to star opposite Margot Robbie in an Ocean’s Eleven reboot, Variety confirms. The new heist film will be helmed by Jay Roach (the Austin Powers franchise, Bombshell) for Warner Bros. from a script by Carrie Solomon for her feature debut, with Robbie producing alongside Tom Ackerley and Michelle Graham.

Though details of the plot are being kept locked up in an impenetrable vault, this chapter will reportedly be an original tale set in 1960s Europe. The project is in active development but has yet to be greenlit, though hopes are production can begin in the Spring of next year. Robbie’s involvement in the project was announced earlier this year in May.

Steven Soderbergh launched the Ocean’s franchise with Ocean’s Eleven in 2001, a fast-paced, stylish A-list comedy that starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts. Its success spurred additional films, including Ocean’s Twelve in 2004, Ocean’s Thirteen in 2007, and the Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett-starring spinoff, Ocean’s 8, in 2018.

Meanwhile, Robbie and Gosling will soon be sharing the screen in another Warner Bros. project, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which is set to release from July 21st, 2023.

Stay tuned for more news on this period heist movie as we hear it.
